Revisit Heaven: Ora Beach (and something to learn)

Pertama kali saya datang ke Ora Beach adalah di tahun 2013. Saya dan teman-teman Baronda Maluku sangat terpesona oleh resort yang terletak di Pulau Seram ini dengan cottage-cottage di atas laut yang bening dan koral berwarna-warni, Ora Beach bagaikan Maldives di negara kita sendiri.

My first visit to Ora Beach was in 2013. Friends from Baronda Maluku and I were so amazed by resort located in Seram Island with a group of cottages above the clear sea and colorful corals. Ora Beach is surely a Maldives look-alike for our country. 

Tahun 2015 saya kembali mengunjungi destinasi indah ini. Ora Beach tetap jernih dengan laut turquoise yang saat matahari bersinar cerah sangat-sangat menawan. Namun ada beberapa perubahan selain tambahan dek untuk duduk-duduk dan makan. Koral di area dermaga sudah tidak seindah dulu. Saya ingat memperhatikan koral-koral yang saat malam hari di kala air laut surut koral yang ada “muncul sebagian” karena koral yang begitu sehat dan banyak. Saya ingat koral yang ada saat itu begitu padat dan indah.

I revisited this beautiful destination in 2015. Ora Beach was still clear as crystal and reflection of the sunlight through the turquoise sea was so amazing. But I could see something different besides more deck for lounging and dining. Corals around the dock were not as beautiful as my first visit. I remember the night I spent to look at some corals appeared when it was low tide. That time, they were so healthy, solid, yet lovely.

Koral di Ora Beach masih indah, namun banyak karang-karang rusak entah terinjak sengaja ataupun tidak. Area koral di pantai Ora ini memang kebanyakan di area sangat dangkal, jika snorkeling di area dangkal maka akan sangat mudah tidak sengaja menabrak karang. Sebaiknya snorkeling jangan dimulai dari area pantai, namun turun dari tangga di ujung dermaga di area yang sudah cukup dalam sehingga kita tidak perlu menabrak karang.

Some corals were still beautiful, but we could find lots of them were damaged by trampled intentionally (or not). Most area in Ora Beach was so shallow that made it easier for them who do snorkeling around to hit the corals accidentally. In order to keep the corals safe, better do snorkeling started from the dock.

Satu hal lain adalah popularitas Ora Beach rupanya menarik semua orang, bahkan hingga pejabat yang dadakan ingin datang ke resort indah ini. Saya dan teman-teman sudah booking beberapa kamar jauh-jauh hari karena kami group besar dengan total 20 orang. Namun di tengah kunjungan teman-teman yang berada di kamar laut “diusir” ke kamar lain sehingga harus berjejalan 6 orang dalam satu kamar karena ada “pejabat daerah” (dan istri-istri mereka) mendadak datang.

Here comes another story about the beauty of Ora Beach that made a group of official had sudden visit to the resort. Since we came in a large group consists of 20 people, my friends and I already booked some rooms long before our visit. Unfortunately, some friends who stayed in the room next to sea were “expelled” to another room in the meanwhile. That made 6 people had to cram into one room for the sake of sudden visit from “local officials” (and their wives).

Saya mengerti management mungkin tidak kuasa menolak para pejabat daerah ini, mungkin jika mereka menolak izin akan dipersulit. Bukannya kami ego besar tidak mau mengalah (toh akhirnya teman-teman mengalah juga karena kasihan dengan pihak management Ora Beach Resort), namun rasanya sangat tidak adil kalau pejabat bisa seenaknya masuk dan menggusur teman-teman yang sudah menyiapkan cuti dan booking jauh-jauh hari.

It was still acceptable if the management couldn’t refuse the local officials since it would complicate the permit. This was not about our big egos who didn’t want to give up the room (while the fact we did it as compassion to the management of Ora Beach Resort), but it’s just so unfair for those who suddenly made their own rule about room arrangement and displaced those who already had days off and booked earlier.

Mungkin ini cuma liburan, bukan hak dasar yang jika direnggut berpengaruh besar tapi tidak rela rasanya mengalah demi raja-raja kecil ini. Ah sudahlah, memang masih seperti itu di sebagian besar wilayah kita.

Maybe this was merely a holiday, not about getting big loss caused by a simple thing has taken from you. But still, it’s not that easy to give up for these “little kings”. Ah forget it, maybe this just another “culture” in our country.

Ada satu hal yang menarik. Usai teman-teman “tergusur”, para istri pejabat ini rupanya beramai-ramai selfie di jembatan menuju cottage di atas laut sehingga jembatan tidak kuat menahan beban belasan orang berdiri dan loncat di kayu-kayu ini sehingga jembatan rubuh dan mereka jatuh.

Anyway, good thing always happened at the right time. After having our friends displaced, these official’s wives planned to take some selfie and jump on a wooden bridge towards the cottage above the sea. Poor them, it was such a wrong spot for a group photo session. The bridge collapsed and they fell.

Memang ini bukan alasan baik untuk kami tersenyum, namun rupanya karma bekerja cepat di “paradise.”

Can’t help to smile but now we know karma truly exist even come faster in “paradise”

PS: Kepada semua pejabat yang ingin liburan, silahkan minta staf kalian untuk booking jauh-jauh hari, kami doakan liburannya lancar dan menyenangkan karena liburan adalah hak semua orang kok ;)

PS: Dear all officials who plan for holiday, please have your staff to arrange before the visit. Wishing you a pleasant and relaxing holiday since everyone deserves it, anyway. ;)

Ah sudahlah, daripada terlalu banyak cerita pengalaman ini lebih baik saya share lagi foto-foto indah Ora Beach :)

Ora Beach, I Swear to God, This is Heaven!

Lupakan Maldives dan Bora Bora, kocek saya saat ini belum sanggup membawa saya kesana. Ah, namun rupanya saya diberi keindahan yang tidak kalah dari dua tempat yang mendunia karena resort yang ada di atas air yang bening. Disini, saya dapat merasakan luxury of staying on top of the clear seawater,in the mids of corals. This is trully heaven!

 

Forget Maldives and Bora Bora, I haven't got enough budget to get there. But, apparently I got lucky and have a chance to see beautiful place which surely you can compare with those two globally famous on top of sea resort. Here, I can feel the luxury of staying on top of the clear seawater, in the mids of corals. This is trully heaven! 

#BarondaMaluku membawa saya sampai ke Ambon, Maluku, bergerak ke Pelabuhan Tulehu dan menyeberang ke Pelabuhan Amahai di Pulau Seram, lalu bergerak dua jam jalan darat dengan mobil menuju ke Desa Sawai. Saya sampai di Ora beach dan terdiam, stunned by its beauty.

#BarondaMaluku brought me to Ambon, Moluccas. We went to Tulehu Port, crossing the sea headed to Amahai Port in Seram Island, then continue two hours car ride to Sawai Village. I arrived in Ora Beach and suddenly kept in silence, stunned by its beauty.

Pantai Ora terletak di bagian utara tengah Pulau Seram, persis di cerukan Pulau Seram di area Teluk Sawai. Perbukitan Taman Nasional Manusela menjadi latar belakang cottage cottage kayu yang dibangun di atas air laut, membuat pemandangan disini semakin spektakuler.

Ora beach located in the north central part of the island of Seram, at the Sawai bay area. This wooden cottage built on top of the sea. With Manusela National Park hills in the background, the sight is simply spectacular.

Satu hal yang menyambut saat saya menapakkan kaki di dermaga Ora Beach Resort adalah betapa banyaknya koral di area perairan, sedemikian dekat dengan garis pantai maka disaat air surut di malam hari sebagian koral ini keluar dari permukaan hingga tertutup laut pasang di keesokan harinya.

One thing welcoming me when I set foot on the Ora Beach Resort dock is bunch of corals stretching in the water, so close to the shoreline and even when the water receded in the evening, most of the coral popping in the surface, until it covered by high tides in the next day.

Ada 6 cottage dengan masing masing satu kamar, dan satu cottage besar dengan 3 kamar di dalamnya. I got one of the best room dengan teras yang paling maju ke arah laut. Simply relaxing.

There are 6 cottages, each as one room, and the large cottage with 3 rooms on it. I got one of the best room with terrace towards the sea more than others. Simply relaxing.

Saat melihat ke bawah dari teras di cottage saya langsung disodori pemandangan coral yang berwarna warni, sangat jernih dan bening membuat saya segera mengambil fin dan menceburkan diri di beningnya laut Pantai Ora. Yang menarik, air tawar dari perbukitan mengalir dan bersatu dengan air laut persis di area belakang cottage sehingga menimbulkan perpaduan air tawar dan air laut. Saat snorkeling pun langsung terasa aliran air hangat yang berganti dingin terus menerus, thermocline yang menyebabkan sebagian air di Ora terlihat buram seperti air gula di gelas, dan sebagian bening, interesting!

Just look down from the terrace, you'll see colorful corals in water so crystal clear, it makes me hard to hold myself from grabbing my fins and splash myself into the water. Also when you swim around this area, you'll feel fresh water flowing from the hills, collide with sea water. This combination of fresh and salt water makes in some area the water is cold and in some is warm, it's a thermocline which makes some water look like sugar in a glass of water, and some just clear, interesting!

Warna warni koral di Ora

Di beberapa area yang mendekati pantai, koral sangat dangkal, membuat saya menjauh dari area ini karena khawatir kaki saya akan menubruk koral, sayang sekali jika koral cantik beraneka warna ini patah hanya karena saya ingin snorkeling di dekat garis pantai :) 

In some areas near the shore, the water is so shallow, making me stay away from the area since I don't want my legs accidentally hit the corals, it's a shame if this beautiful multicolored corals got broken just because I want to snorkel near the shoreline :)

Di area dermaga setelah kumpulan koral terdapat hamparan pasir putih di dasar laut di pantai dan sangat jernih hingga saat ada perahu melintas kita dapat melihat bayangannya di dasar, dipadu perbedaan warna laut dari biru hingga turoquise bening, this is "Maldives" in Maluku! 

Near the dock, after stretching of corals, you'll find yourself where white sands covering the bottom of the sea. It was so clear that when a boat passing by, I can see the shadow at the bottom. Combined with different colors of sea, from deep blue into turquoise, this is "Maldives" in Maluku!

This is a place you don't want to leave, a place to remind me again how beautiful Indonesia is, and how pretty Maluku's beaches and sea.

• Cara menuju ke Ora beach ambil penerbangan ke kota Ambon, lanjutkan dengan kapal cepat dari Pelabuhan Tulehu ke Pelabuhan Amahai (Masohi) harga tiket VIP Rp. 150.000,- dan tiket ekonomi Rp. 92.000,- dan waktu tempuh sekitar 2 jam. Kemudian dari Pelabuhan Amahai dilanjut dengan jalan darat dengan kendaraan selama sekitar 2 jam hingga ke Desa Sawai, jalanan berliku dan driver biasanya menyetir cukup kencang, bagi yang mudah mual siapkan obat anti mual ya. Dari Desa Sawai tinggal menyebrangi dermaga sekitar 10 menit saja dengan kapal kecil, you're in Ora Beach already!
• Harga penginapan di Ora Beach Eco Resort dihitung per orang, bukan per kamar. Harga variatif tergantung season, berkisar antara 100 - 150 USD per orang per harinya, jika ramai ramai (group lebih dari 8 orang) silahkan coba menawar harga mudah mudahan diberi diskon oleh pemilik penginapan. Harga tersebut sudah termasuk transportasi dari Pelabuhan Tulehu di Ambon jadi untuk transportasi lebih mudah karena diatur oleh pihak Ora Beach Resort. Selain itu harga tersebut juga sudah termasuk makan 3x sehari. Siapkan snack sendiri karena tidak ada warung di area Ora Beach Resort.

• Tidak disarankan untuk snorkeling di area dangkal karena banyak koral dan gerakan kaki kita bisa saja tidak sengaja mematahkan koral, cari area yang lebih dalam, di area lain pun masih banyak koral indah yang dapat kita nikmati.
• Belum ada dive center di Ora Beach Resort, namun dengan snorkeling pun sudah cukup puas :)
