Auckland at Night

Dihuni lebih dari 30 persen total populasi Selandia Baru, Auckland adalah kota metropolis terbesar di negara kiwi tersebut. Gedung gedung tinggi menandai kemajuan Auckland yang sangat pesat sejak abad ke 19. Meski Auckland adalah kota terpadat di Selandia Baru, bagi saya kota ini adalah kota yang tenang, terutama di malam hari.

Inhabited by more than 30 percent of the total population of New Zealand, Auckland is the largest metropolis in this kiwi country. High rise buildings in Auckland show how rapidly Auckland built itself through time since the 19th century. One thing more, even though Auckland is the most populous city in New Zealand, for me this town is a quiet relaxing town, especially at night.

Pada pukul tujuh malam hari kendaraan sudah semakin sedikit terlihat beredar di jalanan kota Auckland. Bahkan di pusat kota dan daerah downtown, kepadatan kendaraan sudah tidak terlihat sama sekali, beberapa mobil dan bus melintas namun jarang, pemandangan yang menyenangkan bagi saya yang tinggal di Jakarta dimana pukul sembilan malam pun jalanan masih dipenuhi kendaraan dan kemacetan di malam hari sudah jadi konsumsi sehari hari.

At seven o'clock in the evening the streets already quiet, far from the busy traffic. Even in the centre of the city, downtown area, the density of vehicles is not visible at all, several cars and buses pass by, but rarely, a pleasant sight for me who lives in Jakarta where at nine o'clock the streets were still filled with vehicles and non stop traffic jam are our daily dose everyday.

Sky Tower

Berkeliling downtown Auckland dengan berjalan kaki di malam hari, saya menikmati area Queens Street dimana Sky Tower yang menjadi landmark kota ini terlihat bagaikan menara di Gotham City, kota dalam tokoh imaji, Batman.

Strolling around downtown Auckland at night, I enjoyed the feel and rhythm from Queens Street area where I can see Sky Tower, the Auckland landmark which looks like a tower in Gotham City, where Batman puts his sign.

Saya tidak terlalu suka kerang jadi pilih menu ikan yang sangat enak ini :)

Di seberang Sky Tower dan Sky City, Depot tampak ramai hingga malam hari. Depot adalah cafe yang tidak pernah sepi, dari pagi hingga malam kursi kursi di dalam hingga luar bangunan Depot selalu penuh. Depot terkenal dengan hidangan kerang, hingga "Oyster Bar" menjadi tagline cafe ini.

Across the Sky Tower and Sky City, Depot looks crowded until late at night. Depot is a cafe which never empty , from morning till night all the chairs, inside and outside the Depot building is always full. Depot famous for its scallop dishes, even the "Oyster Bar" became the cafe's tagline.

Jika tidak ingin menikmati keseruan hidangan dan hiruk pikuk suasana Depot maka lokasi terbaik untuk menikmati city light Auckland adalah Devonport, wilayah pinggir kota yang persis berhadapan dengan pusat kota Auckland dimana gedung gedung berjajar membentuk melodi cahaya yang sangat indah.

If you're not into the excitement and bustle atmosphere in downtown, or you might not fond of the dishes in Depot, then get in the car and go to the best location to enjoy the Auckland city light, Devonport, a place in a suburb which location is in front of downtown Auckland, separate by the bay, where you can see buildings forming a very beautiful melody of lights.

Untuk menuju Devonport saya harus menyeberang jembatan, melewati Westhaven hingga Belmont. Di saat malam pun angin di Devonport sangat kencang. Namun jika melihat city light seperti ini, I bet you won't mind a little cold due to the strong wind. Just see and enjoy, a melody of light by human.

To get to Devonport I have to cross the bridge, through Westhaven and Belmont. Also, in the evening Devonport could be so windy. But I'm sure, when you see this beautiful city light, I bet you won't mind a little cold due to the strong wind. Just see and enjoy, a melody of light by human.
