Sunny Day at Ratu Boko

Posisi yang berdekatan dengan kompleks Candi Prambanan dan bentuk bangunan membuat banyak yang mengira Kompleks Ratu Boko juga merupakan area candi dan tempat suci. Namun, Ratu Boko yang berada di Boko Harjo, Sleman, Yogyakarta ini bukan merupakan candi namun merupakan istana dari Prabu Boko yang disebut-sebut dalam kisah Loro Jonggrang.

Ratu Boko complex mostly assumed as a temple area and shrines since it is close to Prambanan complex with the similar shape of building. Located in Boko Harjo, Sleman, Yogyakarta, Ratu Boko is not a temple but a palace of Prabu Boko which is mentioned in the Roro Jonggrang story.

Terletak di perbukitan, Ratu Boko merupakan lokasi yang tepat untuk menikmati pemandangan di area Boko Harjo ini. Kita juga dapat melihat Candi Prambanan dari kompleks Ratu Boko.

Located in hills, Ratu Boko has the right spot to enjoy view around the area of Boko Harjo. Even the Prambanan Temple is visible from Ratu Boko complex.

The gate

Terdapat sejumlah area di Kompleks Ratu Boko, mulai dari gapura atau gerbang utama hingga keputren atau tempat pemandian raja. Namun daya tarik utama kompleks Ratu Boko adalah pintu gerbang sekaligus tangga masuk dimana terdapat dua gerbang dengan perbedaan jumlah "frame pintu" yaitu tiga dan lima. Masuk ke dalam gerbang kita akan berada di area luas berhadapan dengan bukit. 

There are several areas in Ratu Boko complex, starting from the main gate to “keputren” or king’s baths. But the most attractive point is the main gate once the entrance stairs where we can find two gates with different number of “door frame” which are three and five. Entering the gate, and all we can see is the landscape of the hills.

Kami datang di musim kering saat pepohonan menguning dan matahari terasa sangat terik namun membuat langit sangat membiru. Di areal kiri dari gerbang utama kita dapat naik ke viewing point untuk menikmati pemandangan indah di area ini. Area viewing point ini lebih rindang dengan banyaknya pepohonan, a nice way to spend sunny day here.

We came in the dry season when the trees dried out and the sun was very hot but even it turned out to be a blue sky. In the left side of the gate, we could go up to enjoy the beautiful view. A bunch of trees around got this viewing point area more shady, such a nice way to spend sunny day here.

Nature Dining at Dusun Bambu

Area di Situ Lembang, Cisarua, Bandung ini adalah tempat yang tidak bisa hanya dikunjungi sekali saja. Mengapa? karena Dusun Bambu menawarkan berbagai pengalaman suasana makan yang berbeda, mulai dari restoran Burangrang dengan pemandangan Gunung Burangrang dan kehijauan, makan di saung di sisi danau dengan naik sampan kayu terlebih dahulu, hingga makan di "sarang burung" di tengah-tengah pepohonan.

Once is never enough when we talked about visiting Situ Lembang area, Cisarua, Bandung. Why? Because Dusun Bambu provides you different experiences of dining, from seeing a green view of Burangrang Mountain in the Burangrang restaurant, eating in the gazebo at the lake side by getting on a wooden-boat, or even having your meal in the “bird’s nest” amidst the trees.

Even though we didn’t have all day to walk around Dusun Bambu, the green view of Burangrang restaurant got me so relax that it was so hard to leave this place.

Satu hal juga yang harus dilakukan di Dusun Bambu adalah menikmati berjalan kaki melewati bentuk-bentuk bangunan kecil yang menyerupai sarang burung. Area Lutung Kasarung ini adalah ruang-ruang makan yang kecil namun terletak di antara pepohonan dengan bentuk yang unik.

One thing you have to do in Dusun Bambu is feeling the excitement of walking through the small buildings in bird’s nest-shaped. This Lutung Kasarung area consists of small dining rooms yet located among the trees with a unique shape.

Run and Fly : Paragliding

Saya melihat ujung bukit dimana saya dapat langsung melihat teluk dengan Pantai Air Manis di Kecamatan Teluk Kabung, Padang, Sumatera Barat. Beberapa orang mempersiapkan parasut dengan membentangkan di rerumputan hijau.

Imagine you're on that parachute!

Melihat kain parasut yang dibentangkan saya membayangkan meloncat dari ujung bukit, rasa takut dan penasaran langsung menghampiri. Karena bukan giliran pertama saya bisa melihat lebih dahulu prosesnya. Kami bukan atlet paragliding tentu kami tidak terjun sendirian tapi dengan sistem tandem, intinya anda hanya perlu memakai harness yang akan dikaitkan ke parasut dan "pilot" parasut, berlari dan kemudian biarkan angin membawa anda terbang. Terdengar simple bukan? It's true, jika kita hanya jadi penumpang.

Seeing that parachute I imagine jumping off from the edge of the hill, fear and curiosity came up. Since I'm not the first one doing it, I can see the process before I finally did it. Well, we're not athlete and none of us had any paragliding course before so we it's a tandem system. Basically you just need to wear a harness, tied to a parachute, run and let the wind takes you up flying. Sounds simple right? It's true if you're just a passenger.

Semua peralatan sudah dipasang. Harness check, helmet check, karabiner check dan kini saatnya. Bang Eri, pilot kami di paragliding kali ini memberi brief singkat sebelum mulai. "Lari terus ke ujung bukit, jika harus stop saya akan bilang 'cut' atau 'stop' oke?" ujarnya saat memasang semua alat.

Then all the equipments are ready. Harness check, helmet check, all check and now is the time. Eri, our pilot gave me a short brief before we start. "Run to the edge of the hill, if we have to stop I'll say 'cut' or 'stop' okay?" he said when we prepare all equipments.

Dan selang kurang dari semenit kemudian saya sudah berlari, titik awal lari hingga ke ujung bukit tidak panjang, kekhawatiran kami adalah jika sampai di ujung namun parasut belum mengembang sempurna. Namun hanya berlari beberapa langkah saya sudah terangkat oleh parasut dan melaju melewati ujung bukit, dengan sangat mulus.

And less than a minute later I was running. The 'runway' isn't long actually, my concern is if we already run to the edge and the parachute didn't work out perfectly. But in fact I just have to run only few steps then I'm already lifted by the parachute, through the edge and going up smoothly.

Omagah, this is awesome!

Selanjutnya adalah sensasi terbang. Saya melayang di atas teluk, dengan Pantai Air Manis, pulau-pulau di seberang pantai dan Teluk Bayur terlihat jelas. Hijaunya pepohonan dan rumah-rumah yang tampak kecil dari ketinggian. It was awesome!

Next is the sensation of flying. I hovered over the bay. Air Manis Beach, islands off the coast and the Bayur Gulf clearly visible. Green trees and houses that looked so small from above. It was awesome!
 

Paragliding memanfaatkan angin sepenuhnya untuk terbang. Angin yang membuat naik berasal dari angin yang melewati lereng sehingga menghasilkan daya naik dan thermal atau suhu yang lebih panas yang juga membuat parasut naik. Pilot paragliding sudah tahu betul bagaimana memanfaatkan angin ini untuk mengontrol gerak, ketinggian dan arah parasut. Anda tinggal duduk dan menikmati pemandangan, setidaknya itu yang saya lakukan.

Paragliding fully utilize the wind to fly. The wind that makes us flying above comes from the wind passing the slope resulting in power to lift the parachute. The thermal or hot temperatures also support the parachute to fly high. The pilot really knows how to take advantage of the wind to control the motions, altitude and directions of the parachute. You just have to sit and enjoy the scenery, at least that's what I did.

Sensasi ini sangat menyenangkan. Sekitar 6 menit saya berada di ketinggian sebelum akhirnya turun perlahan dan mendarat sempurna di pasir Pantai Air Manis. Run, fly and enjoy. Sometimes we don't need any wings to fly, life is too short to spend on the ground. Go deep or fly high!

• Use shoes, not sandals. Bring your sunglasses since sometimes the sun is so bright but that's the time when the bay and beach look so blue and beautiful

Sentani, Hot Like Heaven

Saya percaya surga ada di muka bumi ini. Jika anda tidak setuju, pergilah sejenak dari kota besar dan menjelajahlah. Bumi ini penuh dengan lokasi lokasi fantastis yang selalu membuat saya berdecak kagum dan bersyukur.

I believe there is heaven on earth. If you don't agree, just take a moment away from the big city and go explore. This earth is full of fantastic locations which always makes me chuckle in, amazed and grateful.

Papua selalu memiliki eksotisme tersendiri. Wilayah yang memiliki setengah dari pulau kedua terbesar di dunia ini adalah destinasi impian pecinta petualangan dan pencari eksotisme budaya yang masih sangat kental disini.

Papua has always had its own exoticism. This half of the world's second biggest island is the dream destination for adventure seekers and those who love exotic culture.

Jika anda ingat Raja Ampat dengan pulau pulau yang bermunculan dengan indahnya di hampir setiap foto perjalanan yang melancong kesana, pergilah ke arah timur laut Papua, tidak jauh dari Jayapura.

If you remember Raja Ampat islands which popping up beautifully in almost any travel photos from there, then go heading to the northeast of Papua, not far from Jayapura.

Totally an amazing view

Saya ingat berada di pesawat dan melihat ke bawah, ada sepotong surga kehijauan yang kontras dengan biru air dan langit, ditambah awan putih yang melewati langit dan membentuk bayangan indah.

I remember being on a plane, looking down then I saw a piece of heaven. Contrast with the greenish blue water and sky, also white clouds across the sky forming beautiful reflections.

Bukan gugusan pulau di laut, ini adalah danau terbesar di Papua. Dengan luas 9.360 hektar, Danau Sentani memanjang dari wilayah Borowai di area barat danau hingga Waena yang berdekatan dengan Abepura. Pemandangan disini begitu spektakuler karena gugusan pulau pulau yang hijau dan berlekuk. Total ada 21 pulau kecil yang tersebar di area danau ini, dengan Pulau Asei sebagai pulau yang paling terkenal karena kerajinan kulit kayu dan posisinya yang dekat dengan dermaga di area Gapote.

This ain't group of islands in the sea, this is the largest lake in Papua, Sentani lake. With an area of ​​9,360 acres, extends from Borowai region in the west of the lake, and to Waena on the east, just near Abepura. The scenery  is so spectacular thanks to the cluster of islands which is green with curves. In total, there are 21 small islands scattered in the lake area, with Asei Island as the most famous for leather wood crafts and since its location just near the Gapote quay area.

 

 

Untuk menikmati Sentani pilihlah kapal kayu kecil, saya hanya perlu membayar sepuluh ribu rupiah untuk menyeberang, atau menambah ekstra sepuluh ribu lagi untuk mendapatkan "short tour" di tengah teriknya matahari Papua yang semakin menyilaukan air danau dan membuat kontras warna semakin membuat area ini picture perfect.

 
To enjoy Sentani, get into the small wooden boat, I only have to pay ten thousand rupiahs for crossing the lake to the islands, or just add an extra ten thousand more to get the "short tour" in the heat of the sun which amazingly making the water more dazzling  and contrast. This is a picture perfect area.

I don't mind a sunny hot day here

Panas matahari sangat terik, membuat salah satu teman saya, Bayu, menganalogikan bahwa neraka seakan sedang bocor dan hawa panas masuk ke bumi Papua ini. Ah, sepanas apapun, namun jika melihat pemandangan seperti ini bagi saya ini adalah surga dunia, meski harus bercucuran keringat.

The sun is shining hard, even one of my friend, Bayu analogized the weather as "seems like hell is leaking and the heat came into the earth." Oh well, whatever heat and hot it may, if you stare at this extravagant view, for me this is heaven on earth, even when I have to sweat all the time here.
