Matterhorn, The Toblerone Mountain

I'm sure you all know the famous triangular shape chocolate, the Switzerland chocolate, Toblerone. Well, that shape doesn't come from nothing; it's actually represented the mountain that you can see also on the logo, the Matterhorn.

I was lucky enough to be able to visit the beautiful town where I can see one of the most photographed mountains in the world from almost every side of the town. Zermatt in Switzerland is a gateway to Matterhorn, even though this mountain is "shared" between Switzerland and Italy (it called Monte Cervino in Italy).

Matterhorn will capture your eyes instantly. Well, lets hope that the sky is clear so you can see this beautiful huge mountain at the height of 4.478 meters above the sea level.

This is a very nice option to get on top: gondola!

Long time ago only a few can see this mountain from a near spot to get the great view of Matterhorn and the glacier around it. But thanks to tourism industry, Zermatt is a city where tourist flocks and surely Switzerland gave a better and nice option for people who want to see Matterhorn from a proper distance.

I only have to take a gondola ride to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, and climb only a few stairs to get to the viewing platform at 3.883 meters above sea level. Nice and easy, but the view is beyond nice, it's surely sweeter than Toblerone. I can't even compare the pleasure of having a sweet chocolate with seeing this. Matterhorn is just awesome.

• Thanks to Qatar Airways for the nice experience. I took a Qatar Airways flight from Jakarta to Zurich (via Doha). 
• From Zurich you only have to take a train to get to Zermatt. Easy breezy :)

Helicopter Ride NZ, Ultimate Ultimate Journey!

New Zealand is fantastic, pemandangan pegunungan es, tebing bebatuan yang sangat tinggi, danau biru, glacier dan masih banyak lagi. Melihat panorama dari level ketinggian mata manusia saja sudah indah, bayangnya dari sudut pandang aerial, bird's eyes!

Milford Sound adalah area di barat daya Pulau Selatan Selandia Baru dan dengan keindahan alam yang dimiliki, Milford Sound merupakan tujuan wisata paling terkenal di Selandia Baru dan seringkali disebut sebagai The 8th Wonder of The World.

Cara terbaik menikmati landscape luar biasa Milford Sound, sebagian area Taman Nasional Fiordland dan area Pulau Selatan Selandia Baru adalah dengan melihat dari ketinggian. Helicopter ride adalah ultimate eyegasm experience di Selandia Baru. Saya ingat cerita Henry Horne, sales manager Hobbiton Movie Set Tours bahwa  Peter Jackson seringkali berkeliling Selandia Baru dengan helikopter untuk mencari lokasi shooting Lord of The Rings dan jatuh cinta dengan Selandia Baru. You'll feel the same from above here.

Kami memulai helicopter ride dari Milford Sound menuju Queenstown, perjalanan ini bagaikan pemandangan indah yang tidak ada habisnya dari awal hingga akhir. Kami dapat melihat Mitre Peak setinggi 1.692 meter di atas permukaan laut dengan es menutupi puncaknya, danau-danau biru yang membentang dan sangat tenang sehingga menghasilkan refleksi yang sangat indah.

Tidak hanya itu, saya terpesona luar biasa saat helikopter melewati celah di antara dua barisan gunung dan di baliknya saya langsung dapat melihat glacier di bagian atas pegunungan, glacier itu mulai mencair, dengan warna biru muda dan ukuran yang besar seakan-akan tidak nyata!

Kami pun melihat glacier tersebut mencair dan danau glacier terbentuk ratusan meter di bawah dan menyatu menjadi "cawan" tersendiri di antara gunung batu, stunning!

Puncak pengalaman ini adalah saat kami berhenti di salah satu puncak gunung es dan turun dengan pemandangan seakan dari puncak dunia, semua puncak lain terlihat jelas, pegunungan es dan saat melihat sekeliling sama sekali tidak ada tanda-tanda kota atau peradaban, it's like being nowhere and you're on top of the world.

Puncak gunung ini diliputi es namun tidak terasa dingin, saya hanya dengan t-shirt dan jaket kulit serta celana semi legging tidak kedinginan sama sekali, matahari bersinar cerah hari itu membuat semua terasa sempurna, a perfect spot.

Dari puncak kami melanjutkan perjalanan, sesekali pilot helikopter membuat manuver seakan kami ada di roller coaster namun tetap nyaman, di Taman Nasional saya melihat rusa berlari di antara padang rumput, maybe this is how God see us, from above.

This amazing journey have to stop when we reached Queenstown. Kota indah dengan Danau Wakatipu menyambut saat kami perlahan mendekati area landasan. That was a 60 minutes of non-stop eyegasm, one of the best experiences in my life.
