Bermalam di tengah wildlife Africa? Mungkin kita akan membayangkan bermalam di tenda, namun apa yang didapatkan di sini sungguh berbeda.

Terletak di area Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, Kruger National Park, Afrika Selatan, lodge ini menampilkan sisi kenyamanan bermalam di tengah-tengah alam liar Afrika.

Dari dining area dan teras utama lodge kita dapat melihat impala hingga Gajah yang datang untuk minum di waterhole yang berada dekat dengan lodge. Deretan kursi malas di depan kolam renang pun langsung mengarah ke area kehijauan di taman nasional ini.

Unit suites di Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge sangat cantik, dengan nuansa putih namun berbagai elemen yang terasa sangat Afrika menghiasi kamar. Dari living room area kita dapat melihat impala yang beberapa kali melintas, bahkan ada beberapa impala yang berhenti dan makan dengan santai persis di depan kaca.

The bathroom area is also another thing. Selain open air shower, kamar mandi ini hanya dipisahkan dengan kaca dari area luar. It's just so nice to see impala passing by when you're dipping in the bathtub. Or maybe just feeling a bit lazy and you want to lay down in the chair enjoying the view.

Kiddies Club terasa sangat kontras, berbeda dengan unit villa yang terasa sangat earthy. Di Kiddies Club ada banyak activities, dan anak-anak bisa memberi hand sign penanda mereka sudah pernah ke Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge

Saat makan malam area terbuka ditata dengan cantik, open air dinner dengan cahaya lilin dan meja-meja yang tertata rapih. Kami menghabiskan waktu makan malam ini bersama para ranger yang menemani kami safari di siang harinya, mendengarkan cerita-cerita menarik ranger selama bertahun-tahun safari menambah seru suasana.

Malam hari kami mesti diantar ranger ke unit masing-masing, karena Bush Lodge berada di tengah area "wild" sehingga bisa saja leopard atau binatang lainnya yang aktif di malam hari masuk ke area lodge. 

Bermalam di Bush Lodge tentu jadi pengalaman menyenangkan di South Africa, a mix of being in the wild but having trully comfortable unit to stay, something we'll remember for good :)

A PANORAMIC STOP: THE THREE RONDAVELS

Sesuai namanya, Panorama Route di Mpumalanga, Afrika Selatan benar-benar memberikan pemandangan indah di berbagai area. Sulit untuk tidak melihat keluar dan menikmati pemandangan saat menyusuri Panorama Route dengan mobil. 

As the name implies, the Panorama Route in Mpumalanga, South Africa really gives a beautiful view on a wide range of areas. It's hard not to look out and enjoy the view while traveling along the Panorama Route by car.

Two of the Three Rondavels

Namun ada satu viewpoint yang wajib jadi tempat pemberhentian untuk menikmati pemandangan spektakuler bukit dengan bentuk unik di antara kehijauan. The Three Rondavels memang tampak seperti bentuk rumah tradisional Afrika (rondavels) yang berbentuk membulat dengan atap, dan kemiripan itulah yang menjadi nama area perbukitan dengan bentuk unik ini.

But there is a viewpoint that must be a halt to enjoy the spectacular view of the hill with a unique shape among the greenery. The Three rondavels did look like a form of traditional African houses (rondavels) shaped with rounded roof, and the resemblance that is the name of hilly area with this unique shape.

Dari viewpoint di ketinggian 1.380 meter di atas permukaan laut ini, kita dapat melihat dengan jelas struktur perbukitan The Three Rondavels, yang juga disebut The Three Sisters, di mana tiga struktur berbentuk rondavels ini diibaratkan sebagai tiga istri dari Maripi Mashile, Bapedi Chief yang berhasil mengalahkan suku Swazi yang meninvasi mereka di masa lampau. Bukit dengan bentuk flat di bagian atas dianggap sebagai representasi Mapjaneng (chief).

From the viewpoint at an altitude of 1,380 meters above sea level, we can clearly see the structure of The Three Rondavels hills, which is also called The Three Sisters, where the three-shaped structure rondavels is described as the three wives of Maripi Mashile, Bapedi Chief who defeated Swazi tribe who invaded them in the past. The hill with a flat shape at the top regarded as a representation of Mapjaneng (chief).

Ada satu hal lagi yang akan menarik perhatian kita di viewpoint The Three Rondavels, yaitu jajaran kios-kios kecil yang menjual berbagai pernak-pernik khas Afrika Selatan, mulai dari souvenirs, tas, kalung hingga kain berbagai corak, I really want to look around longer but unfortunately we didn't have much time for shopping (this is between bad and good - for my wallet haha).

There is one more thing that will attract our attention in the viewpoint of The Three Rondavels, which ranks small kiosks that sell a variety of South African knick-knacks, ranging from souvenirs, bags, necklaces until the fabric of various patterns, I really want to look around longer but unfortunately we did not have much time for shopping (this is between bad and good - for my wallet haha).

 

It's always nice to stop and enjoy the view, also amazing to see how creative the mighty up above is..

AFRICA'S LUXURY STAY: Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge

Don't judge a book by its cover; don't judge a resort by its outer appearance

Hal ini sangat tepat mendeskripsikan Earth Lodge yang berada di area Sabi Sands Game Reserve, Kruger National Park, Afrika Selatan. Salah satu resort yang berada di area private ini terlihat sangat "down to earth" dari luar, area masuk menuju lodge ini sangat sederhana, berupa jalanan dengan tembok berwarna tanah.

Namun semua akan terasa berbeda saat masuk ke dalam. Meskipun mengusung konsep membumi, Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge terasa sangat boutique, dengan desain yang dipenuhi elemen kayu, warna dan gurat tanah serta berbagai karya seni dengan tema serupa.

How can you not love this bathroom? Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge earthy feeling

Salah satu yang terasa sangat artistik adalah kamar tidur, dengan wooden sculptures karya seniman Afrika Geoffrey Armstrong. Ranjang bagaikan menyatu dengan batang pohon yang seakan tumbuh di dinding, a bit reminds me of Game Of Thrones-thing ha!

The complex and rooms also amazing, semua terasa sangat earthy-yang memang merupakan konsep resort ini, serta sangat private. Ada 13 luxury suite dan 1 unit Amber Presidential Suite yang berjarak sehingga setiap tamu dapat menikmati private area masing-masing.

Di luar kenyamanan resort dan semua elemen artistik yang ada, the most exciting thing about staying in Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge is that you're literally in the wilderness; you could see animals passing by from your window or even lion just wandering around on the terrace, an experience of a lifetime! But no worries, meskipun binatang-binatang liar dapat masuk ke area resort, namun ranger dan staff selalu berjaga dan memantau, they will tell you what to do, what kind of animals area approaching, so we can stay on the safe zone and just enjoy "being in the wild" in a pampering facilities, sounds good eh? :)
