Flash Back To Japan Circa 1958 at ShinYokohama Ramen Museum

What comes on your mind when you hear “Ramen Museum”?
Museum biasanya berisikan sejarah, seni, keterangan apa yang terjadi di periode waktu tertentu, tapi ramen? Cukup unik, memang :)
Generally, museum is all about history, art, and any details happened during certain period, but ramen? Sounds unique, right
Meski penggemar ramen, museum makanan tampak kurang menarik, namun ternyata semua pikiran awal saya salah besar. Museum Ramen ini justru sangat menarik.

My first thought about Ramen Museum of course the history and various types of ramen itself. Though I was fan of ramen but a food museum actually seemed not really interesting till then I knew it such a big mistake. The Ramen Museum was really fun.

ShinYokohama Raumen Museum is located at Yokohama City area, about one hour from the heart of Tokyo. ShinYokohama means the new Yokohama, explaining the museum location in new district of Yokohama with the rows of high buildings.

I already found out this museum as a special one from the outside look. It was built like an office building with an entrance counter. We could see a store and wall separator full with pictures and description about ramen-shop in ShinYokohama Raumen Museum. Later, I knew that this was a place where you can taste any brands of selected ramen.

We went downstairs and entered the area with lower light, and here what we got: old night atmosphere of Japan, small alleys, old station, and even field surrounded by various shops with an artificial blue sky that getting darker.

ShinYokohama Raumen Museum wanna told about Japan circa 1958, with the development in many aspects of economy and trading.

Another fun part was when we could eat ramen in many restaurants inside the small alleys as if we were living in the past. Not only the restaurants, there were also clothing store, cinema, and even police station with the flashback of Japan circa 1950s.

For me, it might be more perfect to call this museum as a food park since we could find lots of ramen restaurant with an old atmosphere yet keep interesting.

You can order and pay ramen here

ShinYokohama Raumen Museum was such a pleasant place to have many kinds of ramen (they also serve in a half portion so we were able to eat more than one ramen). The old atmosphere of Japan made the excitement of tasting ramen at ShinYokohama Raumen Museum more authentic.
@marischkaprue - loves ramen but heading to the future
